Uncertainty is information about the limits of a claim. A summit value may depend on the measured point and datum; a glacier figure may depend on a boundary and observation date; an eruption date may carry a range and a particular kind of evidence.
The Global Volcanism Program’s Elbrus record explicitly identifies uncertainty and evidence for its catalogued eruption period.[1] Glacier studies state their time interval, methods and, in the case of the 2019 study, uncertainty-aware change analysis.[2] A reference page should preserve these qualifiers rather than reduce them to an unlabelled number.
Disagreement is not automatically an error. It may show that two studies asked different questions. Readers can use Glacier change and Elevation and measurement to see how that works in practice.
